A 37-year-old straphanger was arrested last week after he rubbed up against a woman on a local 4 train rolling through downtown Brooklyn.
The victim told police that she was standing with dozens of other commuters as her train entered the Borough Hall station at 5 p.m. on October 19 when Robert Rodriguez introduced himself in a not very subtle way.
Police were told that Rodriguez pressed himself against the woman, committed a lewd act and ran out of the train when the doors opened.
He didn’t get far however.
Alerted cops doused his passions as they took him into custody, charging him with forcible touching and sex abuse.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg as gunshots echoed across Nassau Street last week, police said.
The victim told investigators that he was sitting on a bench between Gold and Navy streets at 7:25 p.m. October 22 when the sound of two gunshots made him scatter.
He was running off down the street when he tripped and fell, he said.
As they tendered care, responding paramedics discovered that the victim had been shot in the left thigh, according to officials.
A 41-year-old homeless man was arrested last week after he walked off with a $15,000 religious statue that greeted the faithful at St. Vincent’s Services on Boerum Place for years.
Workers said that the hand carved wooden statue of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus was taken from the children services organization’s chapel on the afternoon of October 19.
Workers poured over surveillance tapes until they spotted the thief, identified as Cleavland Gibbs, walking off with the statue.
Gibbs was taken into custody three days later, charged with grand larceny.
A cross-dressing male was arrested after a hair raising %u2013 and hair swiping %u2013 experience inside a Nevins Street store.
Workers at BOGM Corp. near Flatbush Avenue told police that everything was fine at 6:45 p.m. October 19 when they were told that someone had plucked a wig off of a display mannequin.
The thief, who was later identified as 28-year-old Michael Ingram, put the wig in a shopping bag and was about to leave the store when workers tried to stop him.
Ingram allegedly sprayed one of the workers in the face with mace as he ran out the store.
Cops ultimately caught up with the wig thief, charging him with assault and petit larceny.
An 18-year-old was punched in the face and robbed of a $500 gold chain as he waited for the R train at the Lawrence Street station last week.
The victim told police that he was waiting on the train platform at 1:45 p.m. on October 22 when a 19-year-old Hispanic male approached him.
“What’s poppin?” the thief asked before pointing at the chain dangling off the young man’s neck.
“That’s mine,” the thief said as he punched the victim in the face, swiped the chain and ran onto an arriving R train.
Police said that the victim suffered an injury to his eye and a bloody nose, but was not seriously hurt.
Cops are looking for an unruly club-hopper who slashed a 34-year-old bouncer following a verbal exchange outside of a Lawrence Street nightspot.
The bouncer told police that he had asked the unidentified male to leave the club at 2:35 a.m. on October 24.
When the man was taken outside, he started yelling at the bouncer.
He then lashed out with a blade, catching the victim in the neck, officials said.
Police said that the suspect ran off as the victim sought medical attention.
A fast-moving thief is being sought for swiping $102 from a shopper at Hyperactive, a store at the corner of Elm Place and Fulton Street.
The 21-year-old victim told police said that he had just purchased an item at the store at 4:15 p.m. on October 23 and was putting his money in his pocket when the unidentified male snatched the bills from his hand and ran off.
Nearly $4,000 in pricey women’s clothing and accessories were swiped from the DUMBO boutique Zoe.
Workers at the store, located at 88 Washington Street, said that a studded handbag, a black puff coat and a green puff coat were removed from the racks on the afternoon of October 18 %u2013 a $3,895 steal, they said.
Each jacket cost between $900 and $1200, cops were told.
Cops are looking for a thief %u2013 possibly a homeless man %u2013 who raided a Parks Department locker room at the Cadman Plaza Park House.
Workers said that the locker room, which is attached to a public bathroom, was broken into sometime after 12:30 p.m. on October 15. A Parks Department employee’s wallet containing $250 was reported stolen.
Workers believe an area homeless man who routinely seeks refuge in the public restroom is responsible.
Cops are looking for the thief who made off with a few pricey pieces of eyewear from a neighborhood Lens Crafters store.
Workers at the Court Street store near State Street told police that a pair of Prada sunglasses, two pairs of Versace sunglasses and three pairs of Vogue glasses had been removed from a display area at 12:45 p.m. on October 13. A pair of Donna Karan glasses had also been taken, officials said.
