Come watch the animals at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo get into the ‘swing’ of things.
Resident sea lions will flipper to the sound of music as the zoo is transported to Rio with Samba New York!, a Brazilian samba drum ensemble, August 17 from 12-3 p.m.
Everyone is invited to join the samba line, as samba dancers, drummers, and sea lions stir up the waters and lead zoo-goers in a rousing afternoon of music and dance. The event is presented by WBGO Jazz88.3 FM, a jazz station based in Newark, New Jersey and the Heart of Brooklyn, a cultural partnership in Brooklyn.
Admission to the Prospect Park Zoo is $6 for adults, $2.25 for seniors 65 and older, $2 for kids 3-12, free for children under three. Zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the weekends.
The Prospect Park Zoo is located at 450 Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Park.
