This party was a home run!
The Brooklyn Cyclones offered a hearty thank you to folks in Bay Ridge for being some of the team’s most loyal fans by throwing a party at a local bar on May 31, and it really revving up the excitement ahead of the upcoming baseball season, according to an attendee.
“It was a fun way to kick off the season,” said longtime Cyclones fan Paul Muccigrosso. “It was a great way for them to show their appreciation for the neighborhood and the local people who support them.”
Fans flocked to The Kettle Black sports bar at 87th Street and 3rd Avenue to enjoy wings and drinks, all while celebrating with Cyclones mascots Sandy the Seagull, Pee Wee, and King Henry. But fans enjoyed more than just food. Some attendees tried their luck at spinning the Cyclones’ prize wheel, snagging gear including bobbleheads, hats, mugs, and figurines.
The team threw the party to say thanks to the neighborhoods whose residents frequented last season’s games most often. The Cyclones also hosted a similar event in Gravesend. It’s that spirit of appreciation that makes the team a staple of the community, according to Dylan Larkin who bartends at The Kettle Black.
“It was fitting for the Cyclones to bring everyone together,” he said. “They’re such a community team.”
The Brooklyn Cyclones will set up to the plate for the first home game of the season against the hated Staten Island Yankees on June 16.
