Scammer threatens to deport woman if she doesn’t pay up

68th Precinct

Bay Ridge—Dyker Heights

Music to a thief’s ears

A lying lout scammed a 72nd Street woman out of $1,700 via iTunes gift cards on Jan. 19 by claiming to be from the national Citizenship and Immigration Services and that she would be deported if she did not pay the fine within 24 hours.

The good-for-nothing called the woman at her home between Colonial Road and Ridge Boulevard between 3 pm and 5 pm, and also told her that her credit card was no longer valid and that she consequently had to pay the fine via the gift cards. She then gave the numbers of the gift cards over the phone.

Caught the cameras

A thief stole $1,500 and security cameras from a Fort Hamilton Parkway restaurant on Jan. 15.

The crook entered through the rear door of the eatery between 66th and 67th streets and grabbed the cash at sometime between 12:30 am and 7 am, according to police. He fled the same way he entered, police said.

Luxury steal

A crook stole a Lexus IS300 from the Fifth Avenue dealership at sometime between Dec. 9 and Jan. 9.

The dealership noticed the car missing from the business at Fifth Avenue on Jan. 9, and last saw it the month before with the keys inside the unlocked car.
