See ‘Annie Jr.’ live

New Horizons Middle School Drama Club, in collaboration with Music Theater International Broadway Junion, the Shubert Foundation and the New York City Department of Education Office of Arts & Special Projects will perform their first annual musical, “Annie Jr.” at 7 p.m., May 30-31 in the PS 32/MS 442 auditorium, 317 Hoyt Street.

New Horizons, based in Carroll Gardens, is one of only a handful of schools citywide to receive a grant to produce this production. Students are ecstatic to be making their stage debut with this well-known, well-loved show.

Based on the popular comic strip, “Annie Jr.” tells the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan.

In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin D. Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
