Stop the presses! Native son Josh Freeburn has released his first CD, “Loose Ties.” After listening to a few selections, Standing O has just one thing to say: “Go out and buy it today.” It’s that good!
The 20-year-old has been writing, playing, and conducting since he was knee high to a grasshopper. Josh is studying psychology and teaching at Kingsborough, but music has always been his first love.
Josh says “Loose Ties” is the product of his journey into music.
“I always wanted to give music a chance,” he said. “I’ve written a number of songs and had enough that I really liked. I composed the music and lyrics for each song, as well as produced the album entirely on my own.”
What makes this even more remarkable is that Josh is self-taught. He mastered acoustic and base guitars, drums, piano, and electronic keyboard with very little professional help.
And if musical genius isn’t enough, Josh also has acting chops to boot. He’s starred in several school productions and performed in several venues throughout the tri-state area. He is just one all-around talented guy. Standing O suggests you visit www.joshfreeburn.com for a sampling of his next CD, “Far From Over.”
One listen to “Chance” and you’ll be as hooked as Standing O.

Canarsie
Shredding to the max
Standing O pals Councilman Lew Fidler, (D–Marine Park), Assemblyman Alan Maisel (D–Marine Park), Lenny Fogel of United Canarsie South Civic Association, and District Leader Frank Seddio, (D–Canarsie) cut the ribbon on Canarsie’s new and improved skate park.
According to former Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe, “The redesign of the park provides maximum fun and reflects the suggestions of the local skate community by featuring boxes, rails and ramps.”
So we’re calling out to all the grinders out there! Come on down to Canarsie Park and shred the half pipe!
