State Senator Carl Kruger is seeking the community’s help in locating a Brooklyn senior citizen who has been missing since the evening of September 4.
Israel Gelabert, 85, was leaving a Chinese restaurant on Avenue U and East 16th Street when his wife followed him outside and discovered him missing.
Gelabert, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, is described as white, 5’5, 135 pounds and wearing glasses. He was last seen wearing brown pants and a short-sleeved shirt. He speaks both Spanish and English.
“Mr. Gelabert is in a fragile medical state and his family is obviously frantic,” said Kruger.
Gelabert’s relatives came to Kruger the following day with a desperate plea for the lawmaker’s help. His family fears that Gelabert may be disoriented or injured.
Kruger is asking anyone with information regarding this man’s whereabouts to phone 718-869-6034 or 718-787-0245.
