Killed in fire

A 70-year-old woman was killed on Feb. 12 when a raging fire ripped through a Lenox Road building.

Fire department officials said that two other women were pulled from the burning building, which is between Rockaway Parkway and E. 96th Street, at 6:03 pm, but they survived.

The cause of the blaze was still being investigated by late Tuesday.

Burglar bust

A crook was apprehended in Kensington on Feb. 6 after he was caught breaking into an apartment on Beverly Road and Flatbush Avenue — by the tenant he was burglarizing.

The thief ran off after the tenant saw the 24-year-old thief inside the apartment, but he didn’t get far.

Machete menace

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Feb. 14 when he was caught threatening a group of people with a machete on Linden Boulevard.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, who was between Rogers and Nostrand avenues, grabbed a machete at 6:35 pm and pointed it toward a woman he knew.

Yet he didn’t point it at cops when they showed up to arrest him.

Ugly crime

A 52-year-old burglar was arrested on Feb. 13 after he was caught fleeing a Utica Avenue beauty supply store.

The witness told police that he saw the thief exiting the building, which is between Avenue D and Foster Avenue, at 5:20 am through a rooftop window. The thief was wearing a ski mask and was carrying a bag full of burglar’s tools when he was taken into custody, police said.

Cellphone swipe

A 46-year-old thug was arrested on Feb. 13 after he attacked another man, swiping his cellphone.

The victim was arguing with the thief near the corner of Willmohr Street and E. 94th Street when the suspect slapped him about the face and made off with his phone.

Gunning for cash

Two pistol-packing thieves held up a 30-year-old man on Avenue H and Troy Avenue on Feb. 7, taking $300.

The victim was near Troy Avenue when the thieves pressed the gun against his head, then ran off after taking his money, witnesses told police.

Found dead

Cops are trying to determine what killed a 60-year-old man found dead inside his Woodruff Avenue apartment on Feb. 6.

The city’s Medical Examiner’s office has been charged with performing an autopsy on the victim, who lived between Parade Place and Ocean Parkway. He was found dead at 2:35 pm, officials said.
