Shootist nabbed nearly one year later

Shootist celled

Canarsie detectives have arrested a suspect in a May, 2009, shooting that left a man paralyzed.

Officials said that the suspect, whose name was not released, was taken into custody on March 25 after the victim finally admitted that he had known who had shot him the entire time.

The victim was on East 102nd Street and Avenue J on May 21 when the gunman decided to end an ongoing dispute by blasting him with bullets.

Sources said that the victim didn’t want to name names in the beginning, but changed his mind nearly a year later after it finally sank in that he was going to be paralyzed for the rest of his life.

Detective Tony Depperman apprehended the suspect outside of his home Thursday, charging him with attempted murder.

Unwanted guests

Two East 86th Street residents were scared out of their socks Thursday when they were surprised by a pair of burglars.

The two said that they were inside the home on the night of March 25 when the suspects entered their apartment after looting the upstairs apartment.

But the thieves were as surprised as their victims and ran out the door at the earliest opportunity, fleeing with an X-Box and several DVDs.

Salon nightmare

A woman who got a bad manicure returned to the Canarsie salon she received the bad service from and attacked an employee, officials said.

Police said that Monique Daley got her manicure at the shop on East 80th Street and Flatlands Avenue back on March 22.

Two days later, she returned to complain and ended up getting into an argument with a 38-year-old employee.

During the dispute, Daley struck the woman with a set of keys, leaving her with a small injury.

She then slammed the keys into a laptop computer used by the salon, cracking it.

Cops took Daley into custody a short time later, charging her with assault, according to prosecutors.

Focuse on E. 55th

East 55th Street between Avenues J and K became a happy hunting ground for a thief with a jewelry addiction.

Police said that two homes on the block were both raided on March 26 right around the same time.

In the first instance, someone broke into a home through a back door and made off with some jewelry.

A short time later, the second home was burglarized, although police do not know just how the thief got inside. An assortment of jewelry was also taken from the second home, they said.

Door kicker sought

A thief broke into a Flatbush Avenue home the easiest way he knew how — by kicking in the front door.

Police said that the door to the apartment near Avenue L was busted open sometime after 7 pm on March 27.

The victimized tenant said she didn’t know what was taken when she made her report, police said.

Starting young

A 12-year-old was arrested for burglarizing a Flatlands home March 24.

Officials said the youngster entered the East 57th Street home near Flatlands Avenue just before 9 am

He was reportedly caught as he exited the home with an undisclosed amount of property.

Nailed at salon

A sticky-fingered thief rifled through a 22-year-old woman’s purse as she got her nails done at a Ralph Avenue salon near Avenue J.

The woman said that she was in the midst of getting pampered at 8:45 p.m. on March 19 when someone went through her bag, removing $4, an assortment of credit cards and her driver’s license.

The victim didn’t realize that anything had been stolen until after her nails were dry.
