An electrical short triggered a two-alarm fire that ripped through a pair of stores at the corner of Cropsey Avenue and Bay 50th Street last week, officials said. FDNY officials said that the blaze erupted inside Modern Cleaners just after 7:30 p.m. on February 4 and quickly spread to an adjacent grocery and an upstairs apartment. It took nearly an hour for firefighters to beat back the blaze. No injuries were reported.
