Exterminated
Detectives from the 60th Precinct arrested a 42-year-old “exterminator” who they say stole from three women after conning his way into their apartments.
They say the thief would show up at a victim’s apartment claiming to be an exterminator hired by the building superintendent. He would then claim that he had to spray in each individual room with the door closed and that the victim could not be present.
While he was spraying, he would root through drawers, taking cash and jewelry, cops claim.
Cops connected the suspect to a theft at an Avenue Z apartment near West Street on Feb. 14, as well as thefts on Sea Breeze Avenue on Nov. 1 and Brighton Seventh Street on Nov. 7.
The suspect was taken into custody this week, charged with multiple counts of burglary.
Two on one
A pair of thieves jumped a man on Brighton Beach Avenue on Nov. 7, say cops — but one of the thieves didn’t get far.
The victim was nearing Coney Island Avenue at 6:10 pm when the suspects attacked, flashed a knife, and robbed him of his cash and prescription medication.
But cops caught up with one of the suspects — a 23-year-old — a short time later, charging him with robbery in the first degree.
Killed by guilt
A 34-year-old man jumped off a 22-story W. Fifth Street building in the Warbasse Houses on Nov. 9 as he was accused for possessing child pornography.
Witnesses say investigators just raided the man’s apartment near Neptune Avenue for the illegal material when the subject of their investigation took the fatal leap off his building at 10:45 am.
Slurring by the seashore
Cops arrested a 35-year-old who they say was driving drunk down Neptune Avenue on Nov. 12.
The suspect was apprehended after he seen speeding past W. 12th Street in a 2000 Nissan Maxima at 12:40 pm.
The driver scored a .145 percent on a Breathalyzer test — well over the legal limit.
Busted for break-in
Cops arrested a 31-year-old man after he allegedly broke open a padlocked door inside a W. 25th Street building on Nov. 10.
Housing cops were patrolling the building between Surf and Mermaid avenues at 3:35 pm when they saw the suspect with a dead bolt and a padlock in his hands.
Cops soon learned that the would-be thief pried the padlock and deadbolt off a building door with a set of pliers he had on him.
