Six to one
Six guys roughed up a pedestrian on the corner of Flatbush and Sixth avenues on Feb. 2 in a one-sided confrontation that left the victim too shaken to call the cops for almost 12 hours.
The victim told cops that he was walking down the street at 2 am when he was accosted by the brute squad, which pushed him against a wall and rifled his pockets, taking a $600 phone and a wallet containing $20 and two credit cards.
She’s clueless
A thief forced his way into a Union Street apartment on Feb. 6 by smashing at the lock for an hour.
A neighbor in the building, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, told cops that she heard banging between 5 and 6 pm, but she thought someone was fixing her neighbor’s door.
The crook stole $2,550 of stuff, including a laptop, a digital camera, and three pairs of jeans.
Walked right in
A thief stole $4,000 in electronics from a Dean Street apartment on Feb. 7, after having not much trouble getting in.
When the victim returned to her building, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, at 1 pm, she found that the crook had taken two laptops, an iPod, a digital camera, and a credit card.
She told cops that the building’s front door did not have a lock, that there was no security system in the building, and that she couldn’t even remember whether or not she had locked her apartment door.
Smash and dash
A window-smashing wrongdoer broke into a car and ran off with $650 in property on Eighth Avenue on Feb. 4.
The owner told cops she had parked her car at the corner of Fifth Street at noon, and returned seven hours later to find that someone had broken her rear driver’s-side window and taken her iPod and purse.
Running (away)
An intrepid crook stole some heavy-duty machinery from a Second Avenue warehouse on Jan. 31 and sold it for scrap, cops said.
The perp broke into the building, between Fifth and Sixth streets, sometime around 7 am and stole an entire bus engine and axle, worth $9,000.
The thief then took the goods to a scrap metal factory on Sixth Street between Second and Third avenues.
By the time they arrived at the scrap dealership, the crook was gone by the time they arrived at the scrap dealer.
Unheard
A poor man’s Houdini broke into a St. Marks Place apartment on Feb. 4 by picking the lock — and he got away with $2,300 in property.
Cops spoke with three neighbors in the building, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, but none heard anything between 2 and 7 pm, when the owner was gone. Among the stolen stuff were two laptops and seven credit cards.
Bountiful break-in
A robber broke into a Lincoln Place apartment on Feb. 3 and stole quite a bit of stuff.
The owner told cops she returned to her building, which is between Sixth and Seventh avenues, at 8:30 pm, and found damage to her front door.
Worse, two laptops, a diamond ruby necklace, an iPod, a $700 purse and $800 in designer clothes were gone.
