Slashed over cigarette

A 22-year-old man had his face ripped open during an argument sparked by a pack of smokes.

The victim told police that he was at the corner of Court and Montague streets just before 11 a.m. on October 6 when he asked a stranger if he could have one of his cigarettes.

The two soon got into an argument that ended in bloodshed, police said.

The victim told authorities that he and the stranger were fighting when something stung his face.

In seconds, he realized what had happened: the suspect had slashed his face and arm, leaving deep cuts that needed treatment at Bellevue Hospital.

Cops were still looking for the assailant, who the victim described as a Hispanic male in his thirties.

A 37-year-old woman was held up at gunpoint as she walked along Atlantic Avenue.

The victim said that she was on her way to a friend’s home at 11:15 p.m. on October 5 when an unidentified man confronted her.

“B—ch, give me your money,” the thug demanded as he pulled a gun and aimed it at her.

The victim handed over an envelope containing $325 to the thief, who ran off into the night.

No injuries were reported.

Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Cops are looking for a gun-toting trio who held up a 16-year-old at the corner of Warren and Court streets.

The victim told police that he was on his way home from school at 3 p.m. on October 5 when the three thieves, one of whom was sporting a Boston Red Sox cap, approached.

“Yo, run your pockets and bag,” one of the thieves said, as he held a black and silver handgun in the pocket of his hoodie.

The thieves ran off empty-handed after giving the teen a pat-down, officials said.

An area couple was arrested last week after they allegedly beat each other with a walking stick.

Police said that the 48-year-old woman and the 51-year-old man were arguing on Fulton Street near Elm Place at 4 p.m. on October 9 when the 51-year-old struck the woman in the thigh with his cane.

Enraged, the woman allegedly snatched the cane from his hand and hit him on the head with it, officials said.

Responding officers took both parties into custody, charging them with assault.

A thief broke into Yogo Monster, 115 Court Street, last week, taking over $2,300 in business receipts.

Workers said that whoever broke into the office near State Street may have had a key. Police were told that the thief entered the place without incident, took the money and then left, locking the door behind him.

A 21-year-old woman had her bag ripped off her arm as she exited the Hoyt/Schermerhorn train station last week.

The victim said that she had reached the corner at 2:30 p.m. on October 6 when the thief, described as a black male in his early 20s, grabbed the bag and ran back into the station.

Cops were still looking for the thief as this paper went to press.

A thief broke into a 2004 Honda parked near the corner of Hicks Street and Cadman Plaza West last week, taking over $1,400 worth of property.

The car’s 63-year-old owner told police that he parked the car at 5 p.m. on October 6. When he returned at 6 a.m. the next morning, he knew something was wrong almost immediately: the rear driver side door was missing.

Whoever took the door also took 20 CDs that he had inside the cabin, cops were told.

A beggar asking for a quarter ended up with a few dollars after he bilked a generous 41-year-old man taking in the sights along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

The victim told police that he was on the Promenade near Clark Street at 11:20 a.m. on October 1 when the unidentified male approached and asked him for a quarter.

When the victim took out his wallet to fish for a quarter, the thief snatched it from his hands and ran off, taking $11, as well as a debit card and MetroCard.

A 25-year-old woman had her purse ripped off her shoulder as she walked down Warren Street last Friday, police said.

Cops were told that the woman was between Smith and Court streets at 11:45 p.m. October 5 when a dark-skinned male crept up behind her.

The thief, who was dressed all in black, grabbed her Coach bag, which contained an iPhone, and ran off.
