It was the cream — and the gyro, the hot dog, and the crepe — of the street-fair crop.
This year’s Smith Street fair brought music, crafts, and food to eight blocks of the thoroughfare that runs through Carroll Gardens and between Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill. The festival’s relatively small size and one-day schedule means that only the best vendors make the cut, an organizer said.
“It’s fairly short compared to other fairs,” said Bette Stoltz, executive director of the South Brooklyn Local Development Corporation. “And for that reason, we are very picky about who we let in.”
The arrangement makes for a big turnout every time — and this year was no exception, Stoltz said.
