Three cheers to new Eagle Scouts Juan-Carlo Gallego, Angelo Evangelista, and Brandon Woo.
All three — all from Brooklyn Boy Scout Troop 0510 Floyd Bennett Post 1060 American Legion — achieved the organization’s highest rank and were inducted into the Eagle Scout Court of Honors on Sept. 3 at Mary Queen of Heaven parish on E. 57th Street in front of proud parents Nelson and Josephine Gallego, Angelo and Heidi Evangelista, and Kent and Bih Woo — as well as fellow scouts and our roving photographer.
Scouts are put through a vigorous series of tests and training before achieving the tall honor. In order to receive this rank, the boys had to earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, as well as plan, develop, and lead a service project that illustrated both leadership and commitment to duty.
All have been Life Scouts — the rank below Eagle — for at least six months and showed scouting spirit by demonstrating leadership within their troop or team. As if that wasn’t enough, they had to pass an Eagle Scout board of review, to boot.
Standing O wishes them luck and success as they soar forth — as Eagle Scouts.
