Two hooligans violently mugged a woman on Adelphi Street on May 21, cutting her with a knife.
The ruffians grabbed the 25-year-old victim from behind, covered her mouth and forced her to the ground at 9:50 pm near the corner of Lafayette Avenue. Somehow in the tussle, they cut her arm with the blade — though one of the thugs apologized, police said.
Regrets aside, the hooligans still carried out the mugging, taking her iPod, cellphone, and jewelry. The woman also asked to have her apartment keys back, and though the muggers were sensitive enough to say sorry for slashing her, they responded to this request with a curt “F— you!”
Eat this
A prowler jimmied his way into a much-loved DeKalb Avenue restaurant on May 19.
Everything was in good order when the staff left at midnight, according to the police report. But when a worker returned to the popular eatery, which is between Adelphi and Carlton avenues, at 7:30 am, she discovered the lock on the side entrance was broken.
Inside, the security cameras were turned off, $1,200 was missing from the cash register and two sake bottles had been removed from the cellar.
Robbed
A woman saw a mugging coming not from a mile away, but from across St. James Place on May 19.
The villain and the victim were on opposite sides of the street at around 12:15 am, but suddenly, the 28-year-old woman saw the hoodlum cross the road, near the corner of Gates Avenue, and come straight for her.
He took her purse, which contained her phone, a bracelet, credit and banking cards, and various forms of ID.
Drop it
An armed man held up another man on Carlton Avenue on May 20.
The aggressor sneaked up behind the 22-year-old victim between DeKalb and Willoughby avenues at 1:30 am. He revealed a black gun and told the man that he had three seconds to drop his bag. The victim cooperated, relinquishing the bag, which contained a laptop and camera.
Busted
Police arrested a pack of teenagers attempting to burglarize a Lefferts Place home on March 20.
The homeowner saw the hoodlums inside his home between Grand and Classon avenues, at 7:45 pm — but he also noticed signs of their sloppy break-in, including a broken back door and several shattered windows.
He called cops, who arrested the four teens, all boys 16 or 17 years old.
New gold — still
Scrappy thieves hauled away prized copper pipes from buildings on Adelphi Street and North Elliot Place this month.
In the Adelphi Street crime, thieves broke into the home after 4 pm on May 19, but before 7:15 am on May 21, when the the homeowner, who had been in New Jersey, returned to the building, which is between Park and Myrtle avenues.
About $800 worth of the metal piping was missing from the basement.
In the second incident, the property owner noticed the front door was broken and reported that an undisclosed amount of copper pipes, light fixtures and even the water meter had been stolen.
The victim said he had not been to the property, which is between Flushing and Park avenues, between May 1 and May 21.
Upside down
A Carlton Avenue garden apartment was ransacked while its owner was away earlier this month.
During the victim’s two-week hiatus from May 7 to May 21, someone looted her apartment, which is between Park and Myrtle avenues, removing her laptop, printer, phone, dozens of pairs of jeans, a television, coffee maker and several pieces of jewelry.
The rest of the apartment looked like it had been hit by a tornado.
Police say the thief broke in through the unoccupied first floor, which has a door connecting to the looted apartment.
