Southern Brooklyn parishes fill the streets with faithful for Good Friday

Bensonhurst knows the way of the cross.

On Good Friday, nine Southern Brooklyn parishes joined together for the annual cross procession, filling the street with the faithfulas church officials and average Joes alike paraded from 16th Avenue at 65th Street to St. Anathasius 10 blocks away.

They carried crosses and religious statues, including a life-size sculpture of Christ, in a reenactment of the biblical story of how Jesus was arrested and sentenced to die by crucifixion.

Other participating churches included St. Finbar on Bay 20th Street and St. Mary Mother of Jesus on 23rd Avenue.
