The new year started with a bang in Brooklyn’s Backyard!

Thousands of revelers packed Grand Army Plaza to watch explosives light up the sky at Prospect Park’s 38th-annual fireworks extravaganza.

The outdoor event — which took place on a historically frigid evening, according to reports — featured live entertainment courtesy of Brooklyn-based band Quintessential Playlist, which kicked off the party by covering pop-music hits for an hour and half before the sparking main spectacle.

Attendees who counted down the final seconds of 2017 watched fireworks soar above their heads at the stroke of midnight, bathing the plaza’s Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch in blue, red, and green hues as spectators watched the light show dance across the sky.
