A cheery crop of little leaguers from St. Columba Youth Council jumpstarted the local season of the national pastime with a Mass and a march to Marine Park.
The budding Mike Piazzas received a benediction during a noon service at St. Columba Church, 2245 Kimball Street, followed by a jubilant jaunt through the streets to Diamond 9 at the park for opening day festivities.
Accompanying them was a brass band from nearby Intermediate School 278.
