Misty-eyed pupils donned their mortar boards and put up a brave front for the final graduation day at St. Finbar’s School.
Students received awards and merit certificates for their academic accomplishments during a bitter-sweet ceremony at St. Finbar’s Church, which also marked the school’s 44-year history of providing elementary education to the community before changing neighborhood demographics forced its closure this summer.
The space will be rented to help subsidize the church, Benson Avenue, between Bay 19th and 20th streets.
