About 45 million Americans still do not wear seat belts while driving. This is one time where there isn’t safety in numbers. An average of 38 unbelted people a day are killed in traffic accidents. Please buckle up. The life you save…
About 60 percent of voters nationwide favor REPEAL of the health care law. That’s the highest level of repeal since the law was passed. If you are one of the 60 percent and you are sincere, there is only one way you can make the change. It is imperative that you do NOT vote for any Democrats this November. To my friends on the left who want this repeal but really believe that if their hand goes anywhere near a Republican lever it will be struck by lightning and will be inflicted with rheumatoid arthritis forever, show up but don’t vote.
The new Rasmussen poll tells us that 40 percent of likely U.S. voters now say that global warming is caused primarily by human activity while 44 percent say long term planetary trends are to blame. 16 percent blame Bush.
Let’s go to the results of the most recent Pew Research Poll about immigration. The majority of U.S. citizens and legal residents believe in emphasizing enforcing the immigration laws instead of giving benefits to illegal aliens. Seventy-three percent believe that individuals should carry proof of legal status. Sixty-seven percent support police being able to detain an individual that can’t prove legal status. Sixty-two percent support police questioning an individual they suspect to be in the country illegally. Isn’t it about time our elected officials listen to their constituents?
Lean over to your friend at the next desk and ask her to name the Supreme Court judges. How many did she come up with? I was able to name five and I found that to be embarrassing until I learned that nearly two-thirds of Americans cannot name any. Only 35 percent can name one.
OK. Now ask her to name both U.S. Senators from New York.

The most recent ABC News-Washington Post poll tells us that only 26 percent of us approve of the job Congress is doing. Seventy-one percent disapprove. Real Clear Politics averaged all of the polls and informed us that 22 percent approve while 78 percent give Congress a thumbs down. If I was an incumbent up for reelection this November, I might be looking around for another line of work.

With the enormous debt of astronomical numbers in the trillions, Uncle Sam now pays out, at five-percent interest, $650 Billion, that’s Billion with a capitol B, in interest annually. WOW! $650 billion in interest! It wasn’t so long ago when that number was the entire debt.

Retail sales in the United States were down 1.1 percent in May, the largest decline in 14 months. Gasoline station receipts were down 3.3 percent, the largest decline since March 2009. That was partly due to a drop in the price of fuel. Clothing down 1.3 percent. While certain stores such as Target reported slight gains, those increases were far below the forecasts. Wal-Mart down 1.1 percent. Department stores down 1.8 percent.
And Robert Gibbs keeps telling me that the economy is getting better. I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net looking at Gibbs and shaking my head.
