It’s off to serve the military now.
Xaverian Class of 2016 grads James Baglino and Joseph Scaramuzzino will head to the United States Military Academy and the Naval Academy Prep Program, respectively, come September, leading a host of Xaverian graduates going to prestigious universities in the fall to continue their education.
They include: David Pena, who will attend New York University with a full tuition scholarship, and Xavier Brun and Robert Massucci, both of whom were accepted into SUNY Oneonta’s 3+3 program in physical therapy with the upstate medical center.
The Class of 2016 has earned an impressive $36,000 in collegiate scholarships awards.
This year’s graduates will walk at Brooklyn College at the 56th commencement of the school on June, 4.

Try prayer
Put your hands together in prayer.
Family Rosary has selected two students from our very own borough as the winners of the 2016 U.S. Try Prayer! It Works! contest, a national competition that encourages students to express their faith through art, poetry, and prose.
Brithney Rivera, a first place winner in the Grade 9 category, and Irina Zheng, who was the third place winner in the Grade 7 category, were selected from nearly 2,500 finalists in the 21st annual contest. Brithney is a member of All Saints Church in Williamsburg, while Irina attends Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Dyker Heights.
Each year approximately 25,000 children and teens from Catholic schools, parishes, and other Catholic organizations use their creative skills to illustrate a different faith-based theme. This year, the theme was “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers and sisters?” Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade creatively depicted in various art forms how they act in faith and follow the word of God.

Is your child struggling in school? Is reading an issue? Are you not sure what to do? Get help at the Breakfast Workshop called “Don’t Wait…Spring Into Action!”
Leading experts, including Debbie Lang, Ph.D; Joan Harrington, founder and director of EASE; and Amy Bailin, MS Ed, Pd, and director of Ohr HaLimud’s Professional Development Academy, will lead a panel discussion to answer all your questions at the workshop on June 5.
The event is sponsored by Councilmen Chaim Deutsch (D-Brighton Beach) and David Greenfield (D-Borough Park), Apple Bank for Savings, Courier Life Newspapers, Pomegranate Supermarkets, and Ohr HaLimud-The Multi-Sensory Learning Center, Your Community Dyslexia Resource.
The breakfast is free and will begin at 10 am. The workshop commences at 10:30 am, and runs until 12:30 pm. Free parking is available.
