Mazel tov
L’chaim to Rabbi Yechezkel Pikus, executive director of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush. Rabbi Pikus has been at the helm of this community-based group since 1989, in addition to serving as director of the Shorefront and Coney Island JCC from 1973 to 1989.
The Standing O pal has led the way for many programs that benefited at-risk youth, and provided food and affordable housing for people in need. He also helped to establish workshops for job training and placements, and instituted the Camp Scholarship Fund more than 15 years ago to help underprivileged children attend summer camps.
Through the years Rabbi Pikus has been a friend and advocate to the disabled, the elderly, and the low-income population, while improving the quality of life for Brooklyn residents.
The mensch has dedicated his life to improving our community’s quality of life, and Standing O sends good wishes to him for this much-deserved and fitting tribute.
The awards were presented at the council’s 38th Legislative Breakfast at Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan.
