From law enforcer to law maker.
Retirement from the New York Police Department has certainly opened doors for State Senator Marty Golden, who celebrated 10 years of public service with a community party at the El Caribe Country Club.
Joined by his wife, Colleen, the former City Council member, who was elected to represent Brooklyn’s 22nd Senate District in 2002, and again in 2004 and 2006, was feted in style by a base of supporters at the catering facility, 5945 Strickland Avenue.
Members of the local GOP joined The Friends of Marty Golden to laud his public service, which began with his election to the 43rd Councilmanic District in 1998.
Two years later, Golden was elected to lead the 22nd Senate District, which serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend and parts of Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park and Midwood.
The decorated cop was forced to retire in 1983, after suffering a serious injury while chasing a drug dealer on Flatbush Avenue.
