Steve Levin: also a young person
It is easy to forget sometimes that Council member Steve Levin (D-33rd District), who swept into office on a platform of affordable housing policy and senior issues advocacy, is only 29.
But you can count his youngest colleague, Council member Erik Ulrich (R-Queens), 26, as one of his new fans. On the first day of the new legislative session, Ulrich pulled Levin aside and told him how he looked forward to working with him on a number of issues that cross party lines.
“I’m really happy he’s here. I’m honored to serve with him,” said Ulrich. “Steve’s election is a confirmation of the fact that young people have a lot to contribute.”
Levin, whose parents attended the swearing-in ceremony, said it is a “wonderful privilege to be a member of this body” at this time in his life.”
“I look forward to learning a lot from more senior members and absorb some of their wisdom,” he added.
