Cajones
A clerk in a Clinton Street deli showed just enough gumption to foil a stick-up man on July 27.
The crook barged into the delicatessen, between Third and Fourth places, at 5:45 pm and demanded $100. The cashier rejected the idea, so the mugger upped the ante by brandishing a knife and running behind the counter.
At that point, the worker hopped over the counter, ran out of the store and shut the entrance, thereby trapping the thief inside.
But he ended up releasing the menace when he began damaging the glass door from the inside in an effort to get away.
The crook didn’t make it very far. A uniformed police officer caught the 49-year-old suspect, laden with the store’s cash register.
Cable guy
A burglar broke into a parked commercial vehicle parked on Kane Street on July 22 and stole 60 feet of sweet, sweet cable.
The employee told police he left the unlocked car at 11 pm on the block between Tiffany Place and Hicks Street, but the cable was gone within a half h our.
The wires are reportedly worth $800.
Unclean getaway
A burglar broke into a Degraw Street home through the basement on July 23 and netted a nice haul.
Not only did the thief steal $1,500, a video camera, iPod speaker system and a bicycle from the 42-year-old resident, but he ransacked the apartment between Henry Street and Cheever Place.
The tenant told cops that he was not home from 1 to 10:45 pm.
It’s a pane
A burglar shimmied into a First Place apartment through an unlocked window on July 25.
The 26-year-old resident told police that she was not home from 9:50 am to 3:30 pm. Upon returning to her abode, between Clinton and Court streets, she discovered a thief had taken her camera and $10.
