Cops are searching for the cyclist who they said rode into a guy and sent him crashing to the ground in Sunset Park last month, then fled the scene.

The bicyclist slammed into the victim on June 4 as he crossed a crosswalk on 53rd Street at Seventh Avenue around 5:50 pm, knocking the man to the pavement and causing blunt-force trauma to his head, according to police, who said the bike rider pedaled away on 53rd Street towards Sixth Avenue.

Paramedics rushed the victim to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in critical condition, authorities said.

Officers described the man they want to question as black-haired and in his late teens to early twenties.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477 or in Spanish at (888) 577–4782. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. All tips are confidential.

Reasonable discourse

Vision Zero from Zero Vision says:
Was the guy on the bike riding against traffic?
Did the guy on the bike run a red light or stop sign?
Was the pedestrian jaywalking?
Who was at fault?
Yes leaving the scene of a collision is wrong.

Way to write a story with no details. Great journalism!

Looks like this reporter didn't even bother to ask witnesses or try to get facts on what led up to this crash.

Tyler from pps says:
Is the suspect actually the man in the photo? The words written don't seem to make any connection... or is this some guy with dark hair that happens to have a bike?

Henry Ford from Bay Ridge says:
Look at the sociopaths that want to shoot the messenger when she tries to report on out of control bikers. This is why we need to register bikes and force these psychos to carry insurance.

Vision Zero from Zero Vision says:
Look at the dullard assuming the cyclist [not biker, idiot] was out of control. The story contains no information on what happened. You can’t shoot the messenger when there is no message, stupid. And yeah, because motorists never drive without insurance/registration. Go take a nap.

Henry Ford from Bay Ridge says:
The psycho on the bike ran down a pedestrian in a crosswalk. How could the cyclist possibly be in control? Perhaps you should learn how to read, dotard. .

Reread [or get thicker glasses, grandpa] my first comment, stupid.
"Was the pedestrian jaywalking?"
Dotard, lol. You do know that word is now solely associated with your illegitimate president, right? What else did you learn from Kim Jong Un? Because we all know you learned that word from fox news. Keep lowering the bar, you stupid bloodfart.

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
I won't be surprised if Paul Steely White will be finding a good lawyer to help that cyclist get away with what he did and will even claim that the media is picking on him while claiming that motor vehicles are the real danger.

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
First of all, knock it off with the personal attacks, which only make me want to question what your real age is. For the umpteenth time, I'm not a bot, but the way you talk, you probably sound more like one. Getting back to the subject, instead of resorting to such attacks, how about proving my statement wrong. Until then, I will see as nothing more than a whacko attacko as Michael Moore would put it on anyone who just plain attacked him and didn't bother to come up with anything to disprove him. Just to set the record, I don't condone reckless drivers, but I have never heard you condemn scofflaw cyclists. More importantly, I have never heard White condemn them either, so until you can prove me wrong, my statement on him having an anti-car bias will uphold. On a side note, reading a comment such as yours almost reminds me of the anti-Israel fanatics, who make nothing but blanket statements to their claims and even resort to personal attacks at anyone who disagrees with them not to mention get defensive when asked to prove their claims, which I am saying based on my previous encounters with them in the past just to show I didn't make that up.
