Park Slope
Strings of rubies
Congratulations to the Dance Studio of Park Slope on celebrating 40 years of community service.
The studio has stayed the course and, when most of the streets in the community gave way to chain stores and franchises, it remained independently owned, thrived, and jived for 40 years.
To celebrate, the present owner Jennifer Kliegel — dancer and artistic director since 1998 — is hosting a whoop-de-do at Littlefield on June 11 for old and new students to mingle, share stories, and — of course — dance, dance, dance.
Founded by Kathy Gargan in 1976, the studio has gone through several moves from its original location on President Street to its present location on Sackett Street. Its goal then was to offer dance and performance instruction in a noncompetitive, student-centered environment, as it continues to do.
“We’re still here for the community because of our commitment to our students and our students’ devotion to us,” said Standing O pal Jennifer.
The Dance Studio of Park Slope is hosting its annual recital on June 10 at Brooklyn College’s Whitman Theater at 6 pm.
Standing O offers good wishes for continued success and says, “Keep on dancing.”
