Brighton Neighborhood Association’s Pat Singer and teacher Alan Folstein, hosted 50 students from Public School 225 on a tour of Brighton Beach.
Singer gave them a history lesson as they walked on the boardwalk, down the streets where “Brighton Beach Memoirs” was shot, and visited the bungalow area where new construction stands within feet of burned out bungalows.
“I want these youngsters to develop a sense of community. I fell in love with Brighton Beach when I was their age. It is my hope that these youngsters will develop pride in their hometown and one day become involved. They say a child shall lead us. I can only hope they lead us to a better tomorrow.”
Public School 225 is located at 1075 Oceanview Avenue.
