It’s the Golden oldies!

Locals danced and rocked out to some classic tunes during the first night of the summer concert series in Marine Park on July 5, sponsored by state Sen. Marty Golden (R–Marine Park). Bay Ridge-based rock band Out of the Blue loves staying local over the summer and getting everyone up on their feet, said the five-piece group’s guitarist.

“People seemed to really enjoy it,” said Joe Dasaro. “There’s nothing like summer fun in Brooklyn. There’s no reason to travel, stay right home and have fun.”

And one couple loves to shake and shimmy so much, they wish others would get up more and join them for some good old fashion line dancing, said Homecrest resident John Klein, who danced the night away with his girlfriend Beth Levenstein.

“We like to dance — it’s a nice crowd, not too rowdy, it’s very nice, and they are free, people should take advantage,” said Klein, whose favorite song of the evening was “My Girl” by the Temptations. “We wish more couples would get up and dance.”

The free concerts in the park run every Wednesday through the end of August, and some of the upcoming headliners include London Fogg, Risky Business, Witness, and NY Exceptions.
