Sunday morning shooting
A man was shot in the hip during a skirmish on 93rd Street and Third Avenue Sunday morning.
Police said that the victim was nearing the corner at 4:30 a.m. on November 29 when he got into an argument with the unidentified gunman.
Witnesses said that the gunman fired one round and ran off, leaving the victim splayed out on the floor.
The victim went to an area hospital for treatment, but soon found himself in even more trouble.
Cops charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana when narcotics were found in his pockets.
In need of correction
Some play musical chairs. Others play musical handguns.
A New York City Corrections officer found himself on the wrong side of jail cell door last week after his department-issued weapon ended up in the hands of two other people.
Police said that the corrections officer and his friend were meeting up with some women at a nightspot on 93rd Street and Third Avenue on Saturday night. Before the party began, the corrections officer had put his gun in his glove box, he said.
But as the night drew on, the guard’s friend got into an argument with two other men. In a fit of anger, he allegedly ran back to the car to retrieve the gun without the corrections officer’s knowledge.
But when he returned, the people he was arguing with were just too fast for him.
As he drew the pistol one of them snatched the gun out of his hand and ran off with it.
After being told what transpired, the corrections officer reportedly called police, claiming that his gun had been stolen from his vehicle.
He then tracked the guy who had swiped the gun all the way to Fort Greene to demand that he return the pistol, but the would-be thief wouldn’t give it up.
He did ultimately return the gun, but only after the corrections officer came clean and was charged with filing a false report. Both his friend and the man who had grabbed the gun were later charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said that this incident, while it took place on the same day, was not connected to the above shooting.
Poker raid
A pair of handgun-toting hustlers are being sought for raiding a not-so-high stakes card game in a Bay Ridge Parkway basement.
Officials said that the two men barged into the apartment located near 11th Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. on November 23, taking three card players between 16 and 28, as well as a fourth man, 22, sleeping in a back bedroom, by surprise.
One of the armed men pistol-whipped all four victims as his accomplice brawled with one of the players.
After swiping $400 from the poker table, the suspect pistol-whipped the man his partner was fighting and ran off. Bruised, his partner followed suit.
Police said that the card players suffered cuts and scrapes, but were otherwise uninjured.

KOed for phone
A 15-year-old boy was knocked unconscious and robbed of his cell phone as he walked along Third Avenue last week.
The victim told police that he was nearing 83rd Street as he made his way home from school at 3:10 p.m. on November 23 when an unidentified thief struck him in the back of the head with a bottle.
The victim said he blacked out. When he woke up, he realized his T-Mobile sidekick was missing.
He was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for evaluation, officials said.
Passport pluckings
Thieves with apparent dreams of international travel are scooping up passports wherever they go, officials said.
Police said that two US passports were removed from a Sixth Avenue apartment near 69th Street on Thanksgiving weekend.
The 32-year-old woman told police that she left her home for a short trip on November 25. When she returned on November 27 she found an unknown substance jammed into her key holes. Her front door was open, officials were told.
The passports, along with some jewelry and $200 in coins were missing, she told investigators.
A few days earlier, on November 23, police responded to a home on 79th Street near 10th Avenue where two expired passports, as well as a Dell laptop computer, were removed.
The 46-year-old homeowner said that someone had cut the padlock to a rear window security gate in order to get in.
Home burglarized
A 50-year-old woman returned to her apartment on 71st Street last week to find her dwelling ransacked.
The victim said that she left her pad by 11th Avenue at 11:30 p.m. on November 24.
When she returned at 1:20 p.m., she learned that someone had forced open a window.
While everything was left upended, the only thing taken was $18, officials said.
