Suspect arrested after allegedly fleeing cops, causing collision between MTA buses: NYPD

Cops took one person into custody after they allegedly crashed into MTA buses in a Midwood intersection while fleeing from police on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an NYPD spokesperson, police received reports of a a dispute involving a firearm in the area at 2 p.m. and sent officers to intervene. The suspect, who has not been identified, allegedly involved in the dispute noticed a marked police vehicle and started to flee the scene in their iridescent Fiat — but collided with two MTA buses near the intersection of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue.

The two buses were driving through the intersection in opposite directions when the driver tried speeding in between them, police said. 

Eyewitnesses said nearly seven people were injured including, the bus driver, who appeared to have a knee injury. Paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene.

A nearby corner store caught a video of the crash which shows pedestrians barely escaping injury as the suspect’s vehicle was caught in between the buses. 

Police arrested the suspect, and the incident is still under investigation.
