Detectives are questioning a suspect in the murder of a 24-year-old man who was stabbed to death just steps away from the front door of his Brooklyn home on Monday afternoon.
Jose Perez Rivera was knifed multiple times in the chest and arm right outside his residence at the corner of Hart Street and Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick at about 3 pm on March 22, according to authorities.
At this point in the ongoing investigation, police have not determined the circumstances that led up to the stabbing.
Officers from the 83rd Precinct discovered the wounded victim while responding to a 911 call regarding the incident. EMS units rushed Rivera to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
During the preliminary investigation at the scene, police took the suspect, a 21-year-old man, into custody. Law enforcement sources did not disclose his possible connection to Rivera. The suspect was brought to the 83rd Precinct stationhouse for further questioning.
Charges against him are pending the results of the ongoing investigation, police said.
