Swim class

Parks & Recreation and the City Parks Foundation (CPF), with the support of the American Red Cross, announce the kick-off of this summer’s annual Learn to Swim program.

Learn to Swim is a free swim instruction, which that runs at New York City’s public outdoor pools. The program teaches tots (ages 18 months to five years-old) and children (ages 6 to 14) basic water safety and swimming skills.

This summer, there are three three-week Learn to Swim sessions. Registration may be available the first day of classes if all spots are not filled.

Registration for Session 1 is July 7 from 9-11 a.m. and classes meet July 8-23. Session 2 registration is July 24 from 9-11 a.m., and classes meet July 25-August 12. Session 3 registration is August 13 from 9-11 a.m., and classes are August 14-29.

All classes are held from 8-11 a.m., in 30- or 45-minute sessions, which vary by age and ability.

Learn to Swim locations include: Betsy Head Pool, Boyland, Livonia, & Dumont avenues; Red Hook Pool, Bay & Henry streets; Sunset Pool, Seventh Avenue between 41st & 44th streets; Douglas & Degraw Pool, Nevins & Third avenues, Douglas & DeGraw streets, and Navy & Elliot streets; Commodore John Barry, Flushing & Park avenues; Bushwick Houses Pool, Flushing Avenue & Humboldt Street; Howard Houses Pool, East New York Avenue between Glenmore & Mother Gaston boulevards; and the Kosciusko Pool, Kosciusko Street, Marcy & Dekalb avenues.
