Taking pot shots

Bullets for Christmas

Three armed thugs took a pot shot at a 23-year-old on Bay 37th Street in Bath Beach on Dec. 21, wounding the young man.

The victim was leaving his house, which is near Benson Avenue, at 10:15 pm when the three suspects jumped him.

The 23-year-old managed to break free and run off, but the thugs left him with a parting gift: One of the goons pulled a gun and opened fire, striking the young man in the arm.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where his wounds were treated. One of the shooters — an 18-year-old — was arrested the next day, cops from the 62nd Precinct said.

Dough dummy

A gun-toting crook raided a 20th Avenue bakery on Dec. 15, only to be arrested a few days later.

Workers at Sal and Jerry’s Bakery, which is near Bay Ridge Avenue, were still raising dough — both literally and figuratively — at 2 am when the 29-year-old thief barreled inside and fired a shot into the ceiling.

After getting everyone’s attention, the thief forced the five employees into the freezer, but not before taking some jewelry from one of his victims, workers told police, who apprehended the gunman on Dec. 21.

Note-passer nabbed

A parka-sporting bank robber with cold feet was arrested on Dec. 20 — five days after he failed to rob a Sheepshead Bay Road Citibank.

Employees said the 47-year-old goon entered the bank, which is between E. 16th Street and Jerome Avenue, at 5:53 pm, bundled up in a heavy winter coat but with a full head of steam.

He handed a teller a note demanding 50 and 100 dollar bills. He threatened that if he didn’t get what he wanted, he would start shooting people.

But his confidence evaporated when the teller stepped away from the window. Instead of making good on his threats, the thief turned around and fled, only to be identified a short time later from video footage taken of the crime.

Lunch break

A thief broke into an E. 26th Street home on Dec. 17 as the homeowner brought some lunch to her school-age children.

The woman told police she leaves her home, which is between Avenues U and V, at 12:40 pm every day to bring her kids lunch at their school.

But on that day, when she returned at 2 pm, she realized someone had rifled through her home, taking $30 worth of jewelry.

Teen jumped

Five thugs surrounded a teenager on Avenue Z on Dec. 17 as he made his way to a local convenience store.

The victim was walking between E. 23rd and E. 24th streets at 11:50 pm when the suspects grabbed him, demanding he hand over all of his belongings.

But the thieves ran off without taking anything, said police, who arrested two of the suspects a short time later.

Gunning for cigarettes

A thug pulled a gun on a young couple walking along Ocean Avenue on Dec. 13, robbing them of their belongings.

The victims told police they were between Avenues V and W at 1:30 am when the thief approached, asking to bum a cigarette.

When the victims said they didn’t smoke, the thief pulled a gun and demanded their valuables.

This is tiring

A police blotter wouldn’t be complete without a report about tire thefts — and the 61st Precinct has had a lot of them of late! Here are some of the thefts that took place in Sheepshead Bay:

• Thieves took the tires off a 2009 Honda Accord, which was parked on E. 28th Street on Dec. 18 — but were nice enough to leave the lug nuts behind.

The 42-year-old owner of the car told police he left his vehicle between Avenue V and W at 9 pm before spending the night at a friend’s house. When he returned to his vehicle the next day, it was teetering on two red bricks.

• A 2009 Honda Civic was left on cinderblocks on Dec. 17 after thieves swiped $2,000 in tires and rims from as it was parked near the corner of Avenue W and E. 19th Street.

The theft wasn’t discovered until 11 am the next day.

• Some careless crooks swiped the tires from a 2008 Acura left parked on Ocean Parkway on Dec. 12, and damaged the driver’s side door in the process.

The car was left between Avenues W and X at 6 pm. Thieves manhandled the vehicle sometime before 4 pm the next day, the car’s owner told police.
