Teen mob scene
A horde of violent teenagers beat and mugged a man on St. James Place on Feb. 3.
The attack began at 5:30 pm between Gates and Greene avenues when one of the thugs snatched at the victim’s backpack. The posse of four to six teens spun the victim, 33, and punched him in the face repeatedly. He fell to the ground and they stole his phone and wallet, containing $15.
Costume change
Burglars raided an Irving Place apartment on Feb. 5, but may not have been familiar with the saying, “All that glitters is not gold,” because the thieves pocketed only costume jewelry.
No one was in the apartment, which is between Gates and Putnam avenues, from 11 am to 4 pm, according to the 30-year-old woman and 27-year-old man who live there.
15 minutes of lame
A hooligan shattered the window of a parked car on Lafayette Avenue and stole a backpack that was inside on Feb. 4.
The owner said she was away from the car, which had been left between St. Felix Street and Fort Greene Place at 5:30 pm. But when she returned just 15 minutes later, she saw the broken glass and realized her bag, containing $30, was taken.
Drive bye!
A hapless motorist watched a thief drive off with his company car that had been parked on Fort Greene Place on Feb. 5.
The Ford van, containing thousands of dollars worth of tools and construction equipment, was seen speeding down the block between DeKalb and Lafayette avenues at 4:15 pm by the driver who had just returned to commercial vehicle a few moments too late.
Strong-armed
A teenage delinquent hit and robbed a younger boy on Vanderbilt Avenue on Feb. 5.
The victim, 12, was between Gates and Greene avenues at around 3:45 pm when the thug rushed over and punched him in the kisser and stole a handheld video game from his coat pocket.
Easting disorder
A woman returned from dining out to find her Clermont Avenue apartment ransacked and burglarized on Feb. 6.
The resident, 42, who went out at 6 pm and returned at 3 am, found that her front gate and door were damaged. Inside, the apartment, which is between Greene Avenue and Fulton Street, was a seen of chaos and the woman reported losing her television, iPod, computer, cellphones and a variety of earrrings, necklaces, pendants and cufflinks.
