Telfair kin arrested

The sister of Coney Island-born basketball star Sebastian Telfair has been arrested in connection with a mugging on Mermaid Avenue.

Prosecutors said that Octavia Telfair, 23, was taken into custody shortly after she allegedly struck a woman in the face with a metal pipe and ran off with her cell phone during a skirmish near West 31st Street on November 29.

The victim in the 6:30 p.m. attack suffered a bloody nose but was otherwise unharmed, said prosecutors, who charged Telfair withrobbery in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

The motive was unclear as this paper went to press.

Octavia was identified as one of Sebastian’s nine siblings who cheered his success when the NBA scooped him up right out of Abraham Lincoln High School to play for the Portland Trail Blazers in 2004. Telfair is currently playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.

A man armed with a handgun and a hammer is being sought for holding up a Gerritsen Beach business.

Officials said that the thief, identified as a 25-year-old black male, entered CrossBoro Transport Inc., 2680 Gerritsen Avenue, just before 2:30 p.m. on November 23 with a hammer in his hand. In his other hand was a black plastic bag with what appeared to be a handgun inside, according to witnesses.

Police said the man ordered three people to the back of the office, demanding that they fork over their belongings.

The thief reportedly brought his hammer down on two of them before running off with $25, officials said.

One of his victims suffered injuries to his right head and shoulder as a result.

As Brooklynites were gobbling up their Thanksgiving feasts, thieves were feasting on two Sheepshead Bay restaurants that closed early for the holiday.

Workers at Benny’s Pizza, 1730 Jerome Avenue, told police that someone entered their restaurant sometime after 6 p.m. on November 26 by removing a glass pane from the side door and crawling through the opening they made.

The break-in wasn’t discovered until 9 a.m. the following morning, said employees, who noted that this was the second time in two weeks that the eatery was raided.

Nothing had been reported stolen as this paper went to press.

But there were more Thanksgiving leftovers to be had.

At 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night cops were called to Ginza Sushi, 2809 Ocean Avenue. Workers said that someone forced open the rear door and raided the till sometime after closing at 5 p.m.

About $200 in receipts was taken, officials were told.

An angler casting from a Sheepshead Bay fishing boat was sprayed in the face with mace during a heated exchange with another man, police said.

Officials said that the SeaQueen VII had just docked near the corner of Emmons Avenue and Dooley Street at 11:20 p.m. November 28 when the 42-year-old victim was told that 35-year-old Jonathan Neuer had allegedly taken a small knife and a silver sinker that belonged to him.

When the 42-year-old demanded his property back, he and Neuer began to argue, officials alleged.

The suspect brought a quick end to the spat by spraying some mace in the victim’s direction, police alleged.

Cops called to the dock recovered the mace, as well as the knife and sinker.

Neuer, police said, was charged with menacing.

Thieves broke into Marsal Café & Lounge, 1901 Emmons Avenue, last week, taking $250 in receipts.

Officials said that someone forced open the front door to the eatery sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on November 29.

The money was the only thing taken, officials were told.

A 38-year-old man allegedly created his own pre-Thanksgiving holiday deals and ended up in the slammer for it, police said.

Officials said that John Pedone was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property when security at the Dee II store, 530 Neptune Avenue, spotted him allegedly running out of the store with a pair of blue jeans, sweat pants, sweat shirt and some underwear at 9:45 a.m. on November 25.

The stolen items were later found in Pedone’s car, officials alleged.

Pedone found himself in even hotter water when cops allegedly uncovered 15 Valium pills %u2013 which he didn’t have a prescription for — in his pocket as they took him into custody.

A pair of bogus badges looking for pot held up a 14-year-old boy in Bensonhurst, cops from the 62nd Precinct were told last week.

The victim said he was nearing the corner of 20th Avenue and 64th Street just before 5 p.m. on November 18 when the two unidentified men approached and flashed their badges.

“Do you have weed?” one of the men asked the 14-year-old before frisking him, palming his cell phone, ID and cash in the process.

The duo then fled the area in a Nissan Maxima with New Jersey plates, officials said.

A 37-year-old man was hospitalized recently after three club-goers allegedly attacked him with a belt.

The victim told police that he was inside a nightclub on 86th Street near 23rd Avenue just before 3 a.m. on November 22 when he got into an argument with one of the three men.

The alleged assailants, later identified as 22-year-old David Gass, 18-year-old Jesus Moran and Michael Ramos, also 18, reportedly followed the victim into the bathroom and whipped him about the head with the belt, leaving him with a smattering of cuts and bruises.

As the victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment, cops from the 62nd Precinct caught up with Gass, Moran and Ramos at the corner of Benson and 24th avenues as they allegedly made their escape. All three were charged with assault.

A 16-year-old thief was arrested recently for allegedly knocking over a Bath Beach deliveryman %u2013 literally.

Police alleged that Mehdi Bensabeus attacked his victim as the 55-year-old pedaled by the corner of 86th Street and Bay 26th Street at 8:20 p.m. on November 17. He reportedly pushed the man off his bike and then went into his rear pants pocket, taking $220 in receipts, police said.

Cops caught up with Bensabeus a short time later, charging him with robbery.

Police are still trying to make heads or tails of a 27-year-old man’s claim that he was shot in the leg during a confrontation with three masked muggers in Bath Beach.

The victim told police that he was nearing the corner of 17th Avenue and Bath Avenue at 11:15 p.m. November 18 when three unidentified men sporting ski masks and gloves approached.

One of the men reportedly pulled a gun and pistol-whipped the victim, officials said.

Seconds later a second suspect pulled his own weapon and let one round go, striking the victim in the lower leg.

The thieves ultimately robbed the victim of $600 in cash and the gold chain that hung off his neck, cops were told.

The suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a dark colored car.

The victim reportedly took himself to an area hospital for treatment.

Sources, however, said that no one heard a gunshot.

“We’re also not sure if [the victim] resisted or if he provoked them,” the source said.

A 23-year-old woman was reportedly robbed by the cabbie who took her to Bath Beach %u2013 even after he was paid in advance for the ride %u2013 cops were told this week.

The woman said that her boyfriend put her in the cab after a date at 2 a.m. on November 20 and paid the driver in advance.

But when they got to the corner of Bath Avenue and Bay 37th Street, the cabbie demanded his fare and refused to let the woman out.

The woman was released only after the cabbie took her purse, passport, MP3 player and coat, cops were told.

Express route

A crew of daring thieves took the path of most resistance as they tunneled into an electronics store on 20th Avenue last week.

Workers at Fera Express Wireless, 8520 20th Avenue, told police that they opened for business on the morning of November 20 and found a new skylight that wasn’t there before.

Several hundred dollars in electronics equipment was taken, yet a full inventory of missing items hadn’t been released.
