THE BIG 3-0

The 30th anniversary celebration of the
Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center kicks off at 7 pm on Thursday
in Long Island University’s Kumble Theater.



Highlights of the program include the presentation of a lifetime
achievement award to dancer-educator Carmen de Lavallade as well
as performances by Dudley Williams (pictured), Marlies Yearby,
Nia Love and more.



De Lavallade danced with the Lester Horton Dance Theater, The
Alvin Ailey American Dance Company and The Metropolitan Opera
before joining the faculty of the Yale School of Drama. The multi-talented
artist has also performed off-Broadway and in the films "Carmen
Jones" (1955) and "Odds Against Tomorrow" with
Harry Belafonte (1959).



"The Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center’s 30th Anniversary
Celebration" will take place June 29 at 7 pm at the Kumble
Theater for the Performing Arts on the Brooklyn campus of Long
Island University (Flatbush Avenue Extension at DeKalb Avenue
in Downtown Brooklyn). Tickets are $15, $13 seniors and students.
