Lake Monsters 5
Cyclones 4
July 7 at MCU Park
The Cyclones failed to slay the Lake Monsters on Thursday and, as usual, poor batting led to the bitter 5-4 defeat.
The Clones suffered 16 strikeouts during the match at MCU Park, the worst wiffer being outfielder Charles Thurber, who struck out all four times at bat.
Shortstop Brandon Brown showed his teammates up by hitting his fourth homer of the season in the third, sparking a brief, but ultimately pointless, three-run lead against Vermont
The Cyclones have 197 strikeouts this season — more than any other team in the New York-Penn League.
The Cyclones return home vs. the Vermont Lake Monsters at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on July 8, 7 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
