Talented drama students engaged a rapt audience at Middle School 442 when they took to the stage for a homespun performance of “Annie, Jr.”
The comely cast staged an abbreviated version of the original play, transforming the auditorium of the school, 317 Hoyt Street, into a mini-White Way.
Based on the popular Harold Gray comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” the musical ran for nearly six years on Broadway, spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical.
It features the popular songs, “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life.”
