Do not stay indoors! Join The Weekender all over town:
• Use our handy guide to stroll Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights, the hot new bar and restaurant strip.
• Go and get a lard bread from Caputo’s in Carroll Gardens. You will not regret it.
• Play soccer in Fort Greene Park. On second thought …
• Feel the itch and check out the flea markets popping up all over the borough — and take our handy guide with you.
• This is THE time to see the cherry blossoms at the Botanic Garden.
• Get a drink at legendary bar owner Tracy Westmoreland’s new Brooklyn outpost, ironically named “The Manhattans.” Don’t let the newspaper on the front window fool you — that’s the decor!
• The trombone festival continues at IBeam on Saturday night. Yes, a trombone festival!
• Head to Coney Island, where things are picking up with returning shops on the Boardwalk. And you can buy tickets to Brooklyn Cyclone games, starting on Sunday at 9 am. John Franco will be there!
If you must go indoors, you could:
• Buy your tickets for the Wilco show or, better yet, enter our ticket giveaway!
• Head to Puppetworks for the new show, “Aladdin.” It’s on Saturday and Sunday.
• Take the kids to see kid auteur Randy Kaplan at Southpaw in Park Slope on Sunday.
• Buy Fort Greene author Suzanne Guillette’s memoir about people’s most-humiliating experiences.
• It’s your last chance to see the UniverSoul Circus. Our reviewer, Trey Dooley, had mixed feelings.
• Watch and memorize Frank Hoier’s new fare hike protest song.
• Go see Pulitzer Prize-winner (and Boerum Hill resident) Lynn Nottage’s show.
• Go to a fancy new supermarket in Downtown.
• Stay in and read how the New York Times praised us this week.
As always, these and other great events are in our exclusive family calendar, our great nightlife calendar, and our matchless events calendar.
