They picked the wrong kid to pick on

Karate kid

Two thugs didn’t know who they were messin’ with when they attacked a young man and tried to steal his money on Aug. 12. And to add insult to their botched robbery, the next day, they were arrested.

The would-be thieves approached the 14-year-old in the vestibule of his Bedford Avenue apartment and demanded his phone. When he refused, they took it by force.

But that’s when the fun started: the teenager flung himself against the door of the building, which is between North Sixth and North Seventh streets, preventing the thieves’ exit.

At this point, one of the muggers swung his fist at the teen, but the scrappy victim dodged the blow, and the two crooks fled.

But they weren’t free for long. Cops said they picked up two 15-year-olds the next day.

Pool shark

A game of pool turned violent when a patron of a Manhattan Avenue bar hurled one of the numbered spheres at a woman on Aug. 9.

Cops say the two customers of the bar, which is at Freeman Street, got into the tussle at around 10:30 pm. At one point, the man picked up the pool ball and sent it flying into the woman’s face.

She ended up at the hospital, and cops are now hunting a 6-foot man with short hair who is believed to be 27 years old.

Big burgs

Burglars made out like thieves last week, getting away with thousands of dollars worth of electronics and personal possessions. Here’s a roundup:

• Thieves crawled through the window of a North Seventh Street apartment and took out with two Macintosh laptops, $100, two Olympus cameras, and expensive jewelry on Aug. 10. The tenant told cops that the unit, which is between Barry and Wythe streets, must have been robbed at around 1 pm, when she was not there.

• More burglars stealthily entered a North Sixth Street apartment while the tenant was sleeping overnight on Aug. 11. The victim told cops that he lost two Apple Macbooks, two iPhones, a Blackberry device, a backpack and other accessories from the apartment, which is between Driggs Avenue and Roebling Street.

• On the same day, a woman lost many valuables while she was moving into an apartment on Bedford Avenue between North Third and North Fourth streets. When she had her back turned during the 3 pm move-in, a thief grabbed sunglasses, a Dior watch, Jimmy Choo shoes, and other designer clothes and accessories totaling thousands of dollars.

• A thief broke into a North Fifth Street apartment on Aug. 14, taking a Macbook, two iPods, and three designer watches. The tenant told cops that the unit, which is between Roebling Street and Driggs Avenue, must have been robbed around 9 am.

• Burglars entered an India Street house and left with a man’s acoustic and electric guitars, an Apple desktop computer, a fancy backpack, camera equipment, video games, and clothing sometime between 9:30 am and 5 pm on Aug. 17. The apartment is between McGuiness Boulevard and Provost Street.

• And on Aug. 15, a man came back to his North Eighth Street apartment after work to find his desktop computer, laptop, cellphone and digital camera missing from the unit, which is between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue.

Penny pinchers

Thieves were keen on coins last week in two unrelated incidents, cops said.

In the first, a thief broke into an Eckford Street house on Aug. 15 and made out with $30, entirely in change. The resident said she had left for vacation on Aug. 12 at around 11 am and returned to the house, which is between Nassau and Driggs avenues to find the missing change.

More coppers were lifted on Aug. 16, when thieves broke into a North Sixth Street apartment at around 8:30 pm. This time, a full $100 in coins was taken from the flat, which is between Driggs Avenue and Roebling Street. Two Apple computers, an iPod, and other electronic equipment were also taken.

Bike bastard

A bike-riding mugger attacked a woman on North Eighth Street on Aug. 14, grabbing her handbag, cops said.

The woman told police that she was heading to her home, which is between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue, at around 1:50 pm when the bandit peddled up.

He grabbed the bag, which contained $250 and various cards.
