Gas up the Clonemobile! Six Cyclones — plus manager Pedro Lopez and the coaching staff — will be heading to State College, Penn., for the New York-Penn League All-Star game on Tuesday.
Brooklyn tied for most selections with the hated Staten Island Yankees.
Here are the lucky half-dozen:
• Outfielder Luis Rivera, who’s hitting .307 with four homers.
• First baseman Sam Honeck, thanks to his .287 average and 19 RBIs.
• Dock Doyle, who’s hitting a punchless .256, was selected for his catching prowess — he’s made no errors and has caught seven of 17 runners trying to steal.
• Pitchers Mark Cohoon (7-2, 2.77) and James Fuller (3-5, 2.13 ERA) got spots, along with closer Michael Powers (10 saves).
Unfortunately, the all-star team’s pitching staff couldn’t all be Cyclones — so Brandon Moore (5-2, 2.39), Brandon Sage (2-1, 1.61 ERA, plus a .179 batting average against him by lefties) and Collin McHugh (5-2, 3.33) were snubbed.
Luckily, the two all-star teams are divided by American League or National League affiliation, so the Clones won’t have to sit in the same dugout as cross-Verrazano rivals Neil Medchill and DeAngelo Mack.
Lopez is managing because the Cyclones had the best record of any National League affiliate as of Sunday.
