Thief breaks into home, makes off with $2,500 in cash

Green escape

A fiend broke into a resident’s side kitchen window on June 7, damaging plants and other items, police said.

The break-in occurred in the area of East 8th Street and Avenue S around 1 p.m., according to authorities, who said the housebreaker fled the residency with $2,500 in cash.

Failed robbery

Police arrested a man in connection with a June 4 robbery on Avenue U.

The suspect had been arguing with the victim near the intersection at E. 3rd Street, when he stole $200 from the victim at 11:50 a.m., cops said. Police arrived on the scene later and cuffed the suspect.

Punch and run

An intoxicated crook struck a man in the head June 2 on Mermaid Avenue.

The suspect approached the victim around midnight between W. 15th and W. 16th streets and stuck him in the left cheek, before stealing his cell phone, cops said.

The perp fled the scene, leaving behind the injured victim, who was taken to Lutheran Hospital with minor injuries, cops said.
