Mega time
Cops said a brute with an eye for fine timepieces tried to make off with a man’s $16,000 watch on Duffield Street on Feb. 1.
The mark was walking between Willoughby Street and the Fulton Mall at 10:30 pm when the goon came up from behind, punched him in the head, and ripped off his time-keeping device police said.
The watch, which is the value of a reliable used car or a modest home in a Rust Belt city, was recovered nearby, but the crook got away, according to police.
Bodega bam
Cops cuffed one of two guys who they say put a man in a headlock in front of a York Street convenience store on Jan. 28.
The victim was in front of the store between Bridge and Gold streets around 6:30 pm when the two grabbed him and jeered, “Don’t move or I’ll beat you up,” cops said.
Cops cuffed one of the goons and found a bag of marijuana in his sneaker, but the other tough got away, according to a police report. The victim told cops he was out $9 and a set of keys.
Long-term loan
A thief swiped a student’s wallet from the College of Technology library on Jay Street Jan. 24, cops said.
The victim left his wallet unattended on a table in the library, which is in a building between Johnson and Tillary streets, around 3:15 pm, police stated. When he returned the billfold was missing, according to police. The victim said he lost credit cards, a debit card, and his identification.
With-drawn
A burglar busted in the window of an apartment on Wyckoff Street while the owner was on vacation, stealing a digital drawing tablet, police said.
The victim was on vacation from Jan. 11 until Jan. 21 and returned to find the front window of his apartment between Nevins and Bond streets broken, cops said. He was missing a $300 Wacom Intous 3 pad, which police said was taken through the security bars.
Taken for a ride
A subway supervisor had her backpack stolen from the transit office in the Hoyt-Schermerhorn train station on Jan. 16, police said.
The transit worker left her bag unattended at 11:53 pm and returned three hours later to find her stuff missing, according to cops. She told police she lost an iPad, iPod, and some transit department paperwork. Police are looking at the 16 people with access to that office.
Copper caper
A sneak thief crept into an underground Con Edison storage unit on Smith Street on Jan. 30 and made off with a hefty haul of copper, police said.
Five copper bars worth a total of $2,000 were discovered missing from the storage unit between Fulton and Linvingston streets, police said. It is unclear when the theft occurred, according to the police report.
Barbershop of horrors
Two toughs robbed a barbershop on Saint Marks Place on Jan. 31, threatening customers with a knife and a gun, cops said.
Three people in the shop, between Second and Third avenues, saw the goons come in at 6:35 pm, one armed with a 9-milimter Smith and Wesson, the other with a silver knife, police said. The dastardly duo demanded cash from everyone inside and took off, according to police.
Bad night out
A bar patron’s wallet was stolen from his coat in an Atlantic Avenue watering hole on Jan. 23, according to cops.
The victim told police he left his jacket unattended near the door of the bar, between Hicks and Henry streets, from 9 pm until midnight. The missing wallet contained $60, credit, and debit cards, cops said.
Baby-lifter?
A State Street resident lost $2,300 in cash when an envelope went missing from her apartment on Jan. 29, cops said.
The victim had a babysitter watching her kid at the home, between Sidney Place and Clinton Street, from 5:30 am until 9:10 pm, police said. The victim told police that the sitter denied taking the cash.
R-d times
A high school student had her wallet swiped on a Court Street-bound R train Jan. 30, police said.
The girl was on the train at 10:20 am when a 25-year-old pickpocket sat down next to her, police said. The no-goodnik got off at Atlantic Avenue and, when the girl got to Dekalb Avenue, she noticed the wallet was missing, according to the police report.
Dumbo dropbox
Someone swiped the cashbox from a small business on Main Street on Jan. 30, cops said.
The box containing $1,000 in cash was left overnight in the store between Front and Water streets from 7 pm until 8 am the next day, according to police.
No tip
Someone swiped the stuff from a woman’s wallet at an Adams Street restaurant on Jan. 28, police said.
The woman told police she was attending an event at the restaurant, between Fulton Mall and Johnson Street, from 7:30 to 10 pm. When she left, she realized the contents of her billfold were missing, police said.
Everything that glitters
A villain stole eight grand worth of jewelry from a sleeping woman on a subway car on Feb. 1, cops said.
The woman told police she was intoxicated and fell asleep on the subway around 1 am. She woke up two hours later and walked to her home on Hoyt Street between Wyckoff and Bergen streets, she said. When she got in she realized she was missing her earrings and other jewelry, police said.
Riding Coach
A sneak thief stole a Coach wallet and cash from a woman on an Manhattan-bound B train on Jan. 31, cops said.
The woman was riding at 8:45 am and noticed her wallet was missing at the Grand Street station, according to a police report.
Creamed
A bodega manager hit a man in the face with a can of whipped cream on Jan. 28, as he tried to break up a fight in a Third Avenue deli, cops said.
The victim tried to intervene in an altercation between a customer and a manager at the store between State Street and Atlantic Avenue at 4:45 pm, police said. The manager chucked a can of Reddi-Wip into the poor sap’s face, leaving him with a black eye and a loose tooth, according to a police report. The manager was arrested, cops said.
Road rage
Police arrested a tough guy who they say whacked a man’s head with a camera during an argument over a car crash on Adams Street on Feb. 1.
The victim told police he and the attacker got into a smash-up near Tillary Street around 12:30 am and started arguing. The whacko smacked him over the head with a camera, police said.
