Laptop looting
Someone swiped four-dozen laptop computers from PS 102 in the early hours of April 12.
Police said that someone broke into the school, which is on 72nd Street between Ridge Boulevard and Third Avenue, by forcing open a rooftop door sometime after 12:20 am.
The thief went to rooms 425 and 426 and took 49 laptop computers, as well as battery packs and battery cords.
Purse plucker
A thief tried to break into an 85th Street home, but fled with just a handbag when he set off the alarm and woke the sleeping couple on April 15.
Police said that the thief tried to sneak into the home, which is between 11th and 12th avenues, just before 3 am by forcing open a porch window. But when the alarm went off, all he got was a Coach purse before he high-tailed it out of there.
Picked through
A thief broke into an 85th Street apartment on April 14 as the 48-year-old tenant stepped out to pick up his child from school.
The victim said that he was only away from his home, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, for 45 minutes.
But when he returned at 3:45 pm, he discovered that his apartment had been ransacked and $600 and a jewelry box filled of rings, bracelets and pendants had been removed.

An 81-year-old Shore Road woman found out last week that someone used her good name and Social Security number to get a Victoria Secret credit card.
This Secret secret was exposed on April 14 when the woman received a bill from the lingerie company, claiming she had racked up $419 in charges.
She had not.
Game over
A thief siphoned more than $15,000 from a Bay Ridge business in a stolen check scam.
The owner of Gain Games on 64th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues said that someone swiped his business checks on April 1.
By April 7, he learned that the checks were written out — to a host of people — and cashed to the tune of $15,200.
