This inspector is a thief!

Watered down

A poser pretending a water company inspector must have had some help robbing an elderly man at his 13th Avenue house on Dec. 15.

The impersonator showed up at around 1 pm at the 85-year-old’s house between 81st and 82nd streets and produced identification that suggested that he was an actual inspector.

But while he and the victim were huddling over a supposed leak downstairs, another thief had apparently entered, gone up to the bedroom and emptied a dresser drawer of its valuables.

Police did not reveal the missing property.

Tasteful theft

A burglar broke into a woman’s Ovington Avenue home on Dec. 16 and stole $3,100 worth of jewelry and perfume.

The woman said she was coming back to her home between Third Avenue and Ridge Boulevard from a long day of work at 7:45 pm when she found her 18-karat bracelet, ring, and Dior perfume missing.

Police say that her front door had been pried open with an unknown object.

Group effort

A team of burglars broke into a Fourth Avenue apartment on Dec. 17 with a crowbar.

The renter didn’t get home from work until 9:50 pm when she discovered that thieves had used the heavy iron bar to enter the apartment, which is between 68th and 69th streets. Once inside, the team used two knives to crack open a locked case and get the victim’s property, which was unspecified by police.

A neighbor downstairs said she heard noises at the time of the crime, but figured it was just renovation work being done.

No hospitality

Burglars broke a holiday shopper’s car window and stole $1,100 worth of clothes overnight on Bay Ridge Avenue on Dec. 15.

The 54-year-old South Carolinian returned at 11 am to the gray Honda sedan that he’d parked between Sixth and Seventh avenues the night before to find the rear passenger-side window shattered and two pairs of boots, sunglasses, and a sweater missing.

Stylish heist

A thief made off with thousands in stylish loot from a Colonial Road house on Dec. 14.

The victim told cops that she had locked the door at her home, which is between 68th and 69th streets, before stepping out to do some shopping at around 9 am.

When she got back, the glass on her back door was shattered, the door was ajar, and a Louis Vuitton purse, sunglasses and jewelry were gone.
