Some people talk about saving the environment, but this Saturday, the Brooklyn Cyclones will do their part just by putting on their uniforms.
As part of a “green” promotion with National Grid, the Cyclones will don home uniforms made from bamboo.
We know what you’re thinking: This team has been so stiff over the last week that the last thing it needs is uniforms made out of wood. But don’t worry, said Cyclone spokesman Jason Solomon: “They’re made from bamboo fibers, not the bamboo reeds themselves. They’re flexible and comfortable.”
To end the ribbing, Solomon also sent over information that explained that the “re-Cyclones” would be wearing cloth comprised of “30 percent organic cotton to give stability, beautiful softness and perfect printability.”
Further, “fabric woven from bamboo yarn is light, almost translucent, and softer than cotton. It has a natural quality that feels like silk, but has the advantage of being machine-washable.”
And most important, perhaps, was this tidbit: “It is naturally anti-bacterial and will not hold odor.”
Not that the Cyclones have a hygiene problem, but boy, did they stink last week!
