A sun-kissed autumn lark – and then some – was in store for revelers as they marched to the jaunty beat of Brooklyn’s premier party, the Atlantic Antic.
Festivities for the 34th annual street spectacle drew an estimated million fall frolickers from across the borough and beyond to sample the best of Brooklyn at scores of vantage points, including hundreds of exhibitor booths and 10 stages of live performance, from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue.
Merrymakers kicked off the outdoor extravaganza – sponsored by Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation – with a parade, traversing the entire length of the festival.
Showstoppers lining the route included an assortment of entertainers; among them, mime artists, strolling jugglers, clowns and dancing acrobats.
Elsewhere along the merry boulevard, performers, ranging from calabash players, drummers, big band jazz musicians and other local talent plied their showmanship to hurrahs from the admiring throngs.
An added highlight was the New York Transit Museum’s 15th Annual Bus Festival, which intersected the Antic, running perpendicular along Boerum Place.
Visitors had an opportunity to board and explore a convoy of vintage buses dating as far back as 1917, enjoy hands-on activities at the “Kid’s Stop” tent and purchase unique gifts at the “Bus Shop.”
