National Grid is charged with cleaning up all three “hot spots,” and has yet to determine what the work will cost. Here’s the status at each of the sites:
Metropolitan Works: The tank storage area was cleaned up in 2003 as part of the development of Lowe’s, on Second Avenue and 10th Street. An investigation at the main plant area near 12th Street is still underway, and will last a few more months.
Fulton Municipal Works: Analysis of toxins is should be done in the next few months.
Citizens Gas Company: A clean-up plan is being designed.
